On Thursday, August 9th, super rockstar and longtime diabetic Bret Michaels took to social media to congratulate the Gilman Healthcare Center on its new Diabetic Management Program. Bret sent out the following message to his 1.3 million followers:
“The Gilman Healthcare Center in Gilman, IL has teamed up with former ADA Chicago president Dr. Nick Emanuele and his wife, Dr. Mary Ann Emanuele to offer free specialized Diabetic treatment for its residents. Way to do your part to fight diabetes Gilman! Check out what Gilman is offering to its diabetic residents. It’s great to see diabetic care for our seniors! Good job.”
The former Poison frontman also sent out a tweet to his twitter fans with a link to the new Gilman Healthcare website and a note that said, “Check out what @gilmanhc is offering to its diabetic residents. It’s great to see diabetic care for our seniors!”
When asked about how Bret Michaels found out about the Healthcare Center’s new Diabetic Management Program, Marketing Director Mark Emanuele said, “When Bret played his show a few weeks ago at the Watseka Theater I had a nice talk with his Tour Manager, Tim Chitty, about our new program. I gave Tim some information about the center and asked him pass it along to Bret. He told me that if Bret felt it was a good cause he would support it, and he did.”
The center’s administer, Pam Britt, said, “The new Diabetic Management Program has one goal, to help our residents with diabetes. Bret saw that and wanted to help out.” Pam went on to say, “Doctor Nick Emanuele is the former president of the American Diabetes Association Chicagoland chapter. When you can have a doctor who is so well-known in his field see residents at your center, it really grabs people’s attention.”
Bret Michaels is the second high-profile diabetic to show interest in the Gilman Healthcare Center’s Diabetic Program. Jay Cutler, quarterback for the Chicago Bears, sent out a Facebook message of support last month.
